Infrastructure check

Answer yes, partly or no. Each answer lights one unit in the cabinet. Your answers stay in your browser. If you attach the result to a request, only the score and the weakest points are sent.

  1. 01Is at least one copy of your backups offline or immutable?
  2. 02Have you restored real data from backup in the last six months?
  3. 03Is multi factor authentication on for remote access and email?
  4. 04Do you keep an up to date list of your servers and network devices?
  5. 05Are security updates applied on a fixed schedule?
  6. 06Is every administrator account personal, with only the rights it needs?
  7. 07Do your servers have a tested UPS and adequate cooling?
  8. 08Is your network documented, with passwords kept in a secure vault?
  9. 09Do you get an alert when a disk is nearly full or a drive reports errors?
  10. 10Are your servers and storage still under vendor warranty or support?

Answer the questions to see where you stand.

8 or more: solid. 5 to 7.5: gaps to close. Below 5: high risk.

How the infrastructure check works

Yes counts 1 point, partly counts 0.5 and no counts 0, for a maximum of 10.

8 or more is a solid foundation. 5 to 7.5 means clear gaps that a plan can close within weeks. Below 5 is high risk.

Weak points are ranked by answer (no before partly) and then by the order of the questions, which follows how often each gap causes real outages and data loss in our experience.

Planning estimates. They do not replace a measurement on your own systems.

In practice

The ten questions cover the gaps we find most often in small and mid sized server rooms: a backup copy that ransomware can reach, restores that were never tested, remote access protected by a password alone, and equipment nobody has listed or kept under support.

A score of 8 or more does not mean there is nothing to fix. It means the basics are in place and a structured health check is the sensible next step. Below 5, start with the first item on your list; in most companies that is the backup.

Questions about this tool

Is this a security audit?

No. It is a quick self assessment of operational basics. A health check reviews the actual configuration, and a penetration test is a separate service from a security firm.

Why does backup come first?

Because a working, offline backup is what lets a company recover from almost any other failure, including ransomware. The other gaps make an incident more likely; a missing backup makes it permanent.

What counts as partly?

Choose partly when the measure exists for some systems but not all, or exists but has not been checked recently. MFA on email but not on the VPN is a typical example.
